Sylvester Stallone’s Cobra (1986)
Cobra (1986) is a true ultimate action movie classic starring the great Sylvester Stallone in the absolute prime of his long and heralded career. The film was written by and stars Stallone, while directed by George P. Cosmatos. It also stars Brigitte Nielsen, Reni Santoni, Andrew Robinson and Brian Thompson as the ultimate bad guy “The Night Slasher“.
Cobra was conceived off of the novel Fair Game and was originally conceived from ideas of Stallone’s while working on the script for Beverly Hills Cop (before he would ultimately depart the project). The film wasn’t much of a critical success at the time of its release, but has since gone on to be an ultimate action tentpole for Stallone’s career.
In the film, Stallone plays Lieutenant Marion Cobretti (aka codename “Cobra”) as part of an elite LAPD division called “The Zombie Squad”. Cobretti’s bash disregard for doing things by the book while fastidious upholding the law is stuff of legend. If crime is the disease, Cobra is the cure.
Cobra is our #1 selection on the Top 100 Action Movies of All Time list!
