The Rambo V: Last Blood Trailer is Here! (And it’s Awesome)

Sylvester Stallone is finally here to ride his horse down old town road in Rambo 5.

When John Rambo was first introduced to the world in First Blood over 37 years ago, we knew that this day would ultimately come. Rambo, the poster child for the troubled and misunderstood generation of Vietnam war veterans who are outcast from society and must fight to survive and find their relevance, is finally here to face his final reckoning.

The First Blood / Rambo franchise has also been one of the most ultimate in the action movie lexicon. We’ve been covering news of Rambo V: Last Blood for quite some time, so to finally see some first images and footage before the September 20th, 2019 release date, we’re pretty darn excited.

Rambo 5: Last Blood: Everything About Stallone’s Final Rambo Performance

“Everyone Has One Last Fight In Them”

As you can see in the promotional poster above (and in the trailer below), Stallone’s Rambo makes extensive use of his iconic bow (with explosive arrows, of course). As well as plenty of fights with his signature “heartstopper” knife. The plot is also coming into focus too. Although the official synopsis leaves much to still be decided:

Rambo travels to Mexico to save a friend’s daughter who has been kidnapped by the Mexican cartel.

Rambo V: Last Blood Trailer

While the trailer does feel a little like a music video teaser for the “Old Town Road” track by Lil Nas X, it does certainly pack a punch and showcase some of the ultimate action contained therein. Plus plenty of shots of our new favorite Rambo cosplay character – Cowboy Rambo – living out his retirement years on his ranch. Can’t they just let this man have his peace for once!

More Rambo V: Last Blood coverage here!

We’ll keep you posted as more details emerge and hopefully a longer (and less “Old Town Road”) version eventually drops. As mentioned above, Rambo V: Last Blood is set to hit theaters September 20th, 2019 worldwide.

Smell Like an Ultimate Action Hero with the Dolph Lundgren Aftershave

Do you smell what the Dolph is wearing?

Dolph Lundgren is an ultimate action movie hero. Women love him and men want to be him.

A bona fide scientist with a degree in chemical engineering, Lundgren’s not only super intelligent, he’s also a former male model who has aged like a fine wine.

And, as if all that wasn’t enough, it would appear he smells pretty good too.

Dolph Lundgren’s Replacement He-Man Cast in ‘Masters of the Universe’ Reboot

The Dolph Lundgren Aftershave

That’s the only logical conclusion that can be gleaned from the discovery that Lundgren currently stocks and sells his very own eau de toilette online.

Panama 1924 Sport Boellis, the Dolph Lundgren Special Edition, is a fragrance which, according to Dolph himself, “inspires strength and energy” and is “designed for men on the move like me”.

Combining fresh and elegant notes of Sicilian Orange and Calabrian Bergamot, along with a touch of Lavender from Provence, it’s a scent that no doubt proves playful on the nostrils.

Will it make you a jacked, stacked, statuesque sculpture of Swedish excellence? Probably not, but it will certainly make you smell good.

If You Smell Good You Smell Good

Fusing spicy accents of Cardamom, Cinnamon and Heliotrope flowers, on top of a light and sensuous base of Sandalwood and Musk, it’s important to stress at this point that this is no spoof, but a genuine product you can buy from Lundgren’s official website.

You might need a Hollywood actor’s salary to buy a bottle though, with prices starting in excess of $100 for a single bottle.

That sort of money might “break you” or your bank account.

But, to paraphrase the great man himself, if you smell good you smell good.

How many bottles of Dolph’s aftershave are you going to buy and pour all over yourself? Let us know in the comments or on our Facebook page!

Scott Adkins is the Modern Action Renaissance Man in ‘Avengement’ (2019)

Are we in a new golden age of ultimate action movies?

So… what do you do when you believe you’ve just seen the best action movie of the year, and nothing will top or equal it, but then you watch a movie the very next weekend that might challenge that very thought??

Avengement stars the incredible Scott Adkins as Cain Burgess, a down on his luck fighter who agrees to do what seems to be a simple job for his older brother, crime boss Lincoln (Craig Fairbrass) to pay for a gym. When the job goes wrong, resulting in the death of a woman, Cain finds himself in prison, and the subject of daily attacks due to a $20,000 price on his head. Years later, Cain, hardened by the harrowing experience behind bars, escapes to seek vengeance against his brother for the soul he lost in the process…

They had me at Scott Adkins

10 Ultimate Reasons to Watch Scott Adkins’ ‘Avengement’

Scott Adkins’ Ultimate Avengement

So, last weekend, I saw John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (read my review here, as well as UAMC reviews #1 and UAMC review #2). And I was completely blown away by it. Seriously. I was floored. And I was convinced that nothing would come close to reaching those dizzying heights this year. Like at all. “Pack it in, guys. John Wick & Co. got it this year” was my initial thought. Cut to now, after I’ve just seen Avengement, and this is my new thought:

I may have spoken too soon.

Whoa, baby. Was this one balls to the wall gnarly or was this one balls to the wall gnarly? The answer is a rousing yes. Quite frankly, this is one of the most non stop, most violent ultimate action movies in recent years. And I don’t just mean purely blood and gore. But just the amount of violence inflicted upon people at a frequent pace throughout the movie’s brisk running time is beyond words at this point. This movie is that hardcore. Bloody fights upon bloody fights upon bloody fights.

But the fights aren’t the whole show here. No no. The story being told here is an incredibly engrossing one. And the fights not only don’t drown out the story, but amplify it to make it that much more compelling. Yes, the action in John Wick 3 may be more varied and stunning, but the story in Avengement is much more gripping and gritty. Making for a more rewarding experience for us as the viewers as we watch Cain on his journey to first survive, then to get even with all his enemies.

Top 10 Scott Adkins Action Movies

Jesse V. Johnson’s Ultimate Direction

And it’s all helmed to masterful perfection by its director, Jesse V. Johnson. Once again proving that he is without a doubt one the best action directors out now. Perfectly framed. Excellent choreography. Sporadic editing with long takes. Just perfect fisticuffs. If Savage Dog, Accident Man, and Triple Threat didn’t prove his worth as an action auteur, this most surely will.

I know with the mention of the names Scott Adkins and Jesse V. Johnson, and their past filmography together, that you would believe that the movie is filled with all kinds of flips and crazy moves. And you would be wrong. This movie is a pure, old fashioned beat ’em up. Just think of the legendary fight scene in They Live, add kicks, gallons of blood, and spread it over 87 mins, and you have the fight sequences in Avengement. And it is bliss. Complete bliss.

Now, I love my complex, acrobatic martial arts action. But I looove old fashioned fisticuffs. Just straight up punches and kicks. And this movie features the very best of that kind of fighting. So if that’s your cup of tea, you will be most thoroughly pleased (Hey, that rhymed). I know I was.

Triple Threat: An Ultimate Martial Arts Movie for the Ages

The Modern Action Renaissance Man

Let’s talk about Adkins. I’ve been a fan of Scott Adkins for many years now. From Special Forces to Triple Threat, I eagerly await the next movie to come from him. So believe me when I say that this is truly his best film yet. Adkins perfectly anchors this movie with a truly commanding performance that combines depth of sorrow with an ultra scary persona his character has built up in order to survive behind bars. And the way he conveys his rage is fantastic. Every punch and kick is accompanied by an angry grunt shriek. Now, I know that may not sound like anything great to you, but to me, it’s amazing. Like you can hear the unquenchable fury built within over the years every time he hits someone. Cain is sooo angry. And I love Adkins for adding that to his performance.

He’s backed up by a very engaging script written by Johnson & Accident Man writer (and Adkins‘ Childhood friend) Stu Small, and a colorful supporting cast. The standouts of the supporting cast are Thomas Turgoose as Tune, and Fairbrass, as older brother Lincoln. Tune is a loudmouthed little punk whose bark is way bigger than his bite, leading him to be hilariously picked on for most of the movie.  And Lincoln? He’s a cold hearted SOB who looks like he’s almost sympathetic to his brother’s plight. But looks can be deceiving… Really good performances from both men. Kudos.

Savage Dog: An Awesome Revival of Cannon Style Badassness

One of the Best Deaths Ever

But before I wrap this all up, I wanna talk about a moment. The greatest moment in this movie. There is a death of a certain character. And not just any ole death. I’m talking about the most crowd pleasing death to appear in an action movie in recent years. No spoilers, but it’s a douchebag character who’s being particularly douchebaggy and gets what he deserves… in the most Ultimate, fist pumping, stand up and cheer worthy moment of the movie. Trust me, you’ll know it when you see it.

But all in all, if you like your action fast, brutal, and bloody, I cannot recommend this movie enough. A badass, ultimate revenge action movie that’s sure to become a classic of the genre. Mark my words.

Schwarzenegger Opens up About ‘Commando’ Fight Scene Deemed “Too Extreme” by Studio Bosses

Arnold Schwarzenegger has lifted the lid on the ultimate action movie scene he wanted to include in the 1985 classic Commando.

Speaking to fans during a Reddit AMA, the 71-year-old action movie legend opened up about a scene he originally envisioned that would have seen him beat someone to death with his own severed arm.

According to Schwarzenegger, he got as far as pitching the idea for the scene to the studio, only to have the head of production shut him down. Which is either a huge shame or a massive relief depending on your capacity for gore.

One thing is for sure, we missed out on a great Arnie one-liner. Something along the lines of “I’ve got to hand it to you” or something to that effect.

How Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Commando Was Nearly A Very Different Action Movie

A Classic Arnold Zinger

Let me share the scenes you didn’t see that I tried to get in,” he wrote to Reddit.

I wanted to cut off a guys’ arm and kill him with it. This wasn’t in the script. He would throw a knife at me and after he missed, while his arm was still extended, I chop it off at the shoulder with a machete and beat him to death with it.

Unfortunately, studio bosses weren’t quite so enthused with the idea. Schwarzenegger explained: “Needless to say, I was asked by the head of the studio, Larry Gordon, to come to his office. And he said, ‘What the f**k is the matter with you? Do you want to make money with this movie or an x-rated movie?‘”

‘No Chance’: The Ultimate Action Movie Sequel/Spoof to ‘Commando’

“Get the F**k out of my Office”

At this point, Schwarzenegger conceded defeat and was sent on his way.

I said, ‘You’re right’ and he said ‘Get the f**k out of my office.‘” Despite the scene never making it to film, Arnie did reveal the one-liner he was planning on using for this particular sequence:

Thanks for lending me a hand.

Owning Mahowny: Review of the Film

The gambling life can be full of ups and downs. The thrill of playing games to make money is almost up there with the risks involved with it. Gamblers who can balance their personal life and time at casinos are practically equal to those who often tend to get taken with the flow. The Canadian film, Owning Mahogany, is based on a real-life event that took place back in the 80s.

This film is based on a man who develops tunnel vision after he starts gambling. The cast of Owning Mahowny consists of Philip Seymour Hoffman, Minnie Driver, Maury Chaykin, John Hurt, and Sonja Smits. The movie explores the psyche and the life of Mahowny, who gambles without a thought to any of his actions. Like all other players who suffer from gambling addiction, Mahowny seeks more money as he loses and wishes to relive the thrill as he makes it again.

Falling prey to the loop, Mahowny loses grip of his life outside the casino, and eventually, it is his decisions that decide his fate.

Owning Mahowny – The Plot

Owning Mahogany explores the complex nature of gambling addiction in Canada. The movie is based on a man named Dan Mahowny. He worked as an assistant branch manager at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce that gave him access to ample monetary resources within the reserve. As he is given promotions, he gets access to larger accounts gradually. Mahowny hid his impulsiveness when it came to gambling quite naturally. He would use money from the customer’s account and visit Atlantic City every week.

As time passed, Mahowny skimmed more significant amounts from the bank accounts and became a regular at the casino, where he was treated like a king. However, Mahowny’s routine falls face flat on the ground when the Toronto Police investigate a case related to Frank, Mahowny’s bookie. As Mahowny’s criminal acts are revealed, he faces the music as a consequence of his actions.

How Can One Gamble Responsibly?

The world of online gambling is ever-expanding. One can quickly get onto an online casino and gamble from the comfort of their home. However, this ease of access increases the risks of spending a significant amount of time on the wagering platforms, which often leads to becoming obsessed with money-making. The trickiest part of online wagering is to avoid paying more than one can afford to make up for the losses. Given below are a few tips and tricks that you can follow to gamble responsibly.

  • Before you start playing at any online casino reviewed by CasinoDeps.co.nz, read casino reviews and have a fixed budget in mind. This sets your boundaries with yourself, and that way, you can restrict overspending.
  • Set small bets when playing. You lose big when you bet big.
  • Keep a separate account that can be used for money spent at casinos.
  • Make sure to stay well-hydrated while gambling. Gambling and alcohol often make for a bad combination.
  • Gamble at a casino that is licensed and regulated. This ensures care for the players and responsible gambling practices on the platform.
  • If you are not too sure of yourself, inform a friend to remind you of your limits when gambling.
  • If the urge to gamble gets out of hand, use self-exclusion services that are readily available.
  • Do not hesitate to approach a professional.

Forums and software such as Gamstop, Gamban, NetNanny, etc have been used across the UK to exercise self-exclusion when punters suffer from addictive gambling. Gamstop is a self-exclusion scheme that has been operating since November 2016 and is operated by the  National Online Self Exclusion Scheme Limited or NOSES. Gamcare, on the other hand, is a help-line that operates the National Gambling Helpline. These are, however, applicable only to Casinos registered under the UKGC.

Gambling Addiction through Owning Mahowny

Owning Mahowny is a film that accurately depicts the world of compulsive gambling. Gambling addiction is a phenomenon that the industry has been trying to combat for years. However, a minimum of two million people fall prey to addiction in the United States alone. Like Mahowny, most gambling addicts have a duality in their character – they pretend to be an average person around known people and immediately switch back to their usual selves when the circumstances are suitable.

Gambling addiction can lead to a series of poorly made choices one after the other. Mahowny relied on the bank’s customer’s wealth in order to fuel his addiction to gambling. Unfortunately, he had left his intention to stop far behind him once he went down the rabbit hole. Gamblers who are starting out at online casinos should make themselves acquainted with the risks of gambling addiction. This movie gives one a realistic view of the disorder.

The True Heir to Bruce Lee is Sonny Chiba in ‘The Street Fighter’

Give it up for certified UAMC legend Sonny Chiba!

Everybody has an opinion about who was the natural successor to Bruce Lee upon his death in 1973. Bruce Le, Bruce Li, The Black Dragon, Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan? They all tried to strike while the iron was hot and some of them went on to popularize martial arts movies outside of the exploitation phase. But in my humble opinion, only one man blazed his own trail and developed his own style that can claim the mantle of being the worthy successor to Bruce Lee. His name: Sonny ChibaThe Street Fighter!

Released in 1974, it introduces us to the title character of Terry Tsurugi. He’s a six foot tall half Japanese, half Chinese martial arts mercenary for hire with questionable morals operating in Japan. This master you won’t find mediating or doing kata but in the weight room rocking a universal 70s style and hitting the heavy bag. This was Sonny Chiba’s only second martial arts movie even though he has been in over a hundred films since 1960 and he tapped into a zeitgeist with this character.

Chiba, who has black belts in Karate, Judo, Kendo and Ninjutsu, never stopped working in action cinema after this and even formed his own stunt team. He has immortalized by Quentin Tarantino as sword maker Hattori Hanzo in 2003’s Kill Bill. Chiba’s martial arts prowess may have been a little crude, but it’s the savagery of the fights that make these films. And savage they are!

Bruce Lee: The Dragon Lives in ‘A Warrior’s Journey’ (2000)

Enter the Street Fighter

I think these fights are some of the best put to film and I am shocked their intensity were never intimated. The fights were stylized and brutal in a way we didn’t see until The Raid came along. So brutal are they, The Street Fighter was rated X for the violence alone in the United States. Surugi fights multiple opponents, a giant, a sword wielding adversary as well as a number of Karate maters one on one.

He punches people so hard they throw up on screen, reduces an opponent’s teeth to chiclets and at one point  tears out a guy’s throat long before Dalton did it. He’s not above hitting a woman, but when he finds one being sexually assaulted, Tsurugi literally tears a guys junk off and holds it up in front of him.

How Jackie Chan Changed Action Movies For The Better

Ultimate Martial Arts

The filmmakers also utilize the technique of using an X-ray to show the damage Tsurugi’s blows are inflicting to the human body long before the TV show CSI perfected it. And he fights with leather straps on his forearms reinforced by steel rods which allows him to block hard and fight sword wielding opponents as well as house his throwing knives. The finale sees him square off against another Karate master on the deck of a freighter during a storm.

The plot was light years ahead of what martial arts cinema was churning out at the time and really propelled the violence. A heiress is kidnapped by the Yakuza and is being forced to sign over all her holdings to the Mafia and Tsurugi and his manservant are out to get her back. There are a lot of people needing to get got in this movie.

Throw in the fact that everybody has their own martial arts master working for them and they all want to fight each other to the death to show who’s the best and you got martial arts mayhem on the grandest of scales.

Bruce Lee’s Ultimate Legacy Deserves Better than Birth of the Dragon (2016)

Takuma ‘Terry’ Tsurugi Returns!

Terry Tsurugi returned in two more movies: Return of the Street Fighter and The Street Fighter’s Last Revenge which both continued the carnage. Forget the Sister Street Fighter series as Chiba only appears as an entirely different character. I watched the old Diamond Entertainment DVDs but I’m reading Shout Factory worked their magic and did a restoration of the remaining prints and added a kick ass poster to boot. So if Clarence would take Alabama to a screening on a first date in True Romance, maybe you should pick up a copy.

Could Terry Tsurugi take John Wick in a fight? Well, Wick never donkey punched somebody hard enough in the back of the head to make their eyeballs literally pop out… or actually stabbed someone with a gun. Yet. So all bets are even.

This author wishes to maintain his secret identity goes by the name of his favorite comic book hero Iron Fist. When he’s not collecting comics from his childhood, watching action movies or raising his three kids, he works a a police officer, trains Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do, Kali and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Needless to say, he takes poor martial arts or sloppy gun handling skills personally. And he lives and trains in Chicago.

Stallone Trying to Bring ‘Cobra’ Back as a Streaming Series

Sylvester talks Cobra, Rocky and Rambo V…

You can trace the lines between where ultimate action and high art cinema combine and they both point directly to the legendary, great and awesome Sylvester Stallone. The seasoned action star and Oscar winning writer and director sat down with the press for a “Rendez-vous” at the Cannes Film Festival in France to discuss his upcoming Rambo V: Last Blood which opens Sept. 20th worldwide.

Amongst some more insights into Rambo V, Stallone also opened up about his future with Rocky as well as his regrets for Cobra being “another” of his great “franchises”. Along with some hints about where and how we might see Marion Cobretti again…

7 Reasons Stallone’s Cobra is his True Cinematic Masterpiece

What if Bruce Springsteen Had a Gun?

Accord to a write up by Deadline, when an audience member asked about Cobra specifically and for Stallone to reflect on it, Sly responded:

“That (conceit) was what if Bruce Springsteen had a gun? That was rock n’ roll meets drama. That should have been another franchise because that character was so cool. And I blew it. My personal life got in the way. But we’re trying to bring it back as a streaming TV series. Bring out the zombie squad. I’m long gone, but the idea is really good”

At the Ultimate Action Movie Club, these are big words to throw around about “trying to bring it back as a streaming TV series.” With Stallone already reportedly working on bringing back reboots for Cliffhanger and Demolition Man, the desire to move a franchise to the TV realm isn’t a new one either as a long rumored Rambo TV series is apparently still on the table as well.

But Cobra, man that would be huge. Not only is it one of Stallone’s Top 10 Action Movies, it’s actually our UAMC pick for #1 most ultimate action movie of all time!

The Top 100 Ultimate Action Movies of All Time

Stallone on Rambo V

On his upcoming Rambo V: Last Blood, Stallone opened up a bit more about the plot and why Rambo needs to return home for one last time.

“In every film, Rambo never goes home, he goes out the to the jungle or Afghanistan. In the new one, he does come home, but in a way he never arrives. He’s there, but he’s not. That’s what the whole story is built around. As soon as he walks outside his door, he has no more control. The world controls you.

“We pick it up, he’s out in this storm, a horrible storm. He’s trying to rescue people. There’s a flash flood. One guy goes up by horseback, he volunteers to save people. He’s still dealing with survivor guilt, b/c he could save his friends in Vietnam. A result of PTSD. He has a hard time. He has a beautiful ranch, but he lives underground. This is how he deals with his dilemma. There’s something subterranean in Vietnam. He has an adopted family there. His father has passed on. The housekeeper who is 70 has a granddaughter. He’s her surrogate father.”

“Bad things happen. There’s going to be some serious vengeance in this movie. A lot of people getting hurt.”

Rambo 5: Last Blood: Everything About Stallone’s Final Rambo Performance

Rocky to Riches Success

And while a budding Rocky spinoff Creed franchise is blossoming, Stallone also took time to reflect on how he went from “parking cars in 1975” to starring in a “two-time Oscar winning blockbuster” with his Rocky franchise. And in true Stallone fashion, he even has more ideas for Rocky as well…

“I have a great idea for Rocky. He finds this fella in the country illegally and it becomes a whole thing.”

Let’s hope this man never stops being Stallone. There’s so many more ultimate action adventures for him to explore!

They’ll be back! ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Trailer Reunites Schwarzenegger and Hamilton

TERMINATOR FANS have been given glimpse of the latest addition to the sci-fi franchise, which reunites original stars Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Terminator: Dark Fate marks Linda Hamilton’s third outing as Sarah Connor, following two wildly successful outings as the character in The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

Fans will be hoping her involvement will signal the start of an upturn in the franchise’s fortunes following several underwhelming instalments. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator: Salvation and Terminator: Genisys all failed to hit the same heights as James Cameron’s original movies.

The Terminator Was Almost Completely Different and Had a Totally Lame Ending

Tim Miller’s Terminator

Hopes are high for this latest addition though, which sees Cameron return as producer with Deadpool director Tim Miller taking the reins this time out.

“I remember watching T2 in Westwood when I had just moved to LA – it was an amazing experience,” Miller said.

“I was particularly stoked because Jim had done ALIENS a few years before and it is – hands down – my favorite action movie of all time. It blew my mind, as it was unlike any sci-film I had ever seen – it felt like a grounded, realistic and gritty future.

“And of course, T2 was just as amazing and continuing that franchise is more of an honor than I could ever imagine.”

7 Scenes That Prove Terminator 2 is Arnold’s Ultimate Action Movie

A Retcon Sequel to Terminator 2

Serving as a retcon sequel, Terminator: Dark Fate will pick up the action following the events of Terminator 2, erasing what occurred in the subsequent three sequels in the process.

Schwarzenegger returns alongside Hamilton and a cast including Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna, and Diego Boneta.

Miller said: “Seeing Arnold and Linda on set, in a scene together for the first time was fantastic. Watching the monitors, in as much awe as any nerd would be in my shoes, it was hard to believe it was happening. I’d get lost watching the take and then every thirty seconds it would hit me again, “Holy shit, I’m making a Terminator movie!”

“I read comic books and sci-fi novels all the time, so I feel like I come to these projects as a true fan would. I can imagine myself reading about a plot or character, or hearing about casting and how excited (or not) I would be.

“I’ve tried to approach the whole film that way and this will be very different from the other Terminator films that came after T2 – primarily because Linda’s back. I love our movie, just like I love the first two, and I want to see Sarah’s story continue. And we will deliver on that.”
